Rapunga
The Rapunga series was inspired by days spent watching these bulky but eminently graceful seabirds – the southern black-backed gull (Rapunga is their Maori name) – effortlessly soaring and riding pressure waves created by the swell on the ocean, off Nugget Point lighthouse.
The piece is kinetic, gently shifting on its sprung mount.
